If you don't know this section on traveling will give a good idea of what to expect when you get to your destination and need a place to stay.
You can pretty much find sleep hostels in every corner of the world. Some are huge moneymakers with lots of rooms and a big staff. Others are corporate affairs that are run by agencies like hostelling international. These sleep hostels tend to be very clean, very safe and more than a little boring.
Before you get to a city and search a place to stay it is a good idea to have a reservation and sleep in a hostel. Most sleep hostels reserve at least six months in advance to, so don't be shy to reserve bed as soon as possible. Some will require a deposit, or your credit card number. An inconvenience for sure but it's just the business.
Also, the earlier you reserve the better chance you get a single or double room, which will make your stay that much better.
Different sleep hostels have different policies and one of them doesn't give with your own sense of privacy. For instance, many sleep hostels will require to leave you passport at the front desk as a form of deposit. Some people find this practice very disturbing. Don't leave your passport if you don't want to and if they refuse you entry, then don't stay there.
No matter which city you are staying in, your sleep hostel location is the point. Surely you will want to stay in a place that is centrally located. This is best for seeing the sights, for transportation and for drunkenly stumbling home. Also, sleep hostels don't usually make a lot of money, so many often are located in 'low-rent' areas. Try to avoid these because there is not going to be a lot of thingsf to do there anyway.
Usually your room will have its own sink and mirror and sometimes a toilet or shower. But, most of the sleep hostels have usually general shower facilities that the whole floor had to share.
Bring a pair of slip-ons, slippers,
sandals, etc...to wear to the showe. This will prevent your feet from contacting any fungi that some other foreign traveler may have left behind.
if you are going to sleep in hostels, pack with you a pillow case. Each night you could pull out your pillow case and lay it down over the hostel supplied pillow and slept with peace of mind. If you wonder they even bothered to wash it before letting someone else use it. You will sleep real good.
Most sleep hostels provide lockers that you can store your things in, but as an extra safety precaution, bring with you a lock and "cable bike lock/chain".
